 Education in Action A cornerstone of the college's environmental mission is the emphasis on public service as a way of life. Service learning is the integration of community service into coursework. Students learn by converting academic theories into community action -- gaining knowledge and helping others. In a single semester, hundreds of GMC students commit thousands of service learning hours in the community, in projects like after-school enrichment programs, water testing, and forest restoration.
