Broaden Your Horizons

Green Mountain College offers a wealth of travel opportunities to students, in most cases without the need to transfer out of the college to go abroad. The four travel programs include the following:
  • Eco League -- Green Mountain is a founding member of the five-college Eco League, the only college consortium in the United States dedicated to studying the environment. Students may spend up to two nonconsecutive semesters at any of the Eco League colleges, stretching from Maine to Alaska, without transferring.

  • Exchange Programs -- University of Wales-Aberystwyth in the United Kingdom and Hannam University in Korea, two of our partner schools abroad, both offer our students semester-long exchange programs.

  • The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) -- NOLS provides Green Mountain students with opportunities to learn technical skills and develop leadership abilities in some of the world's most beautiful and remote locations. Through NOLS, Green Mountain students have spent months backpacking or boating in Alaska, the Tetons, the Pacific Northwest, Baja Mexico, India, Patagonia, the Amazon, and the Arctic Circle.

  • Travel Courses -- These intensive summer term or winter term courses bring students to distant environments to engage in onsite research and learning. In recent years, Green Mountain professors have brought students to New Zealand, Brazil, Italy, China, Hawaii, Wales, Argentina and France.
