Adriana Ortega '98, Ph.D.
Researcher, National Institute of Occupational Health, Denmark
Ph.D. recipient in Occupational Health Psychology, University of Nottingham
Major: Behavioral Science, Minor in Women Studies
Hometown: Valencia, Venezuela
Where I live/work now: Copenhagen, Denmark
Description of work: I do applied research on occupational health & organizational psychology. I'm currently working on a project on emotional/psychological harassment at work (bullying). And I will take part on a new research project on immigrants' cultural identity, integration and labor market participation. And of course, I'm learning Danish as well!
How I got started: It all started at the department of Behavioral Science at GMC with Vangie Blust, Allan Marwine, and Gordon Knight. What can I say? I had the best mentors.
Most important thing I learned at GMC: Environmental and community responsibility
Sports/activities while at GMC: I participated in various activities and was member of several student clubs and organizations, for example, the intercultural club, environmental club, college programming board, yearbook, etc.
Advice to students: A holistic approach to the world and life is useless if we are not critical and proactive.
