Meet Some Of Our International Students

Home Country: Sierra Leone, West Africa

Major: Psychology

Why did you choose GMC?
Well first I was a recipient of the Make a Difference scholarship. I was attracted to GMC because it's a small private college, and because of the location-Vermont is a lovely state!

What do you miss most about home?
What I miss most about home is the food, my family and playing football on the beach with my friends.

Describe your hometown in 5 words or less: Gold, diamonds, Rebels, beaches, and mangoes

Most interesting U.S. experience?
One of my most recent interesting experiences was visiting the Georgia Aquarium, which is the biggest aquarium in the world!

Contributions to GMC:
My most notable contribution was my involvement in "The Book for Africa" book drive. I am also a member of the Poultney Elementary School Mentoring Program, Student Senate, the African-American Culture club, and GMC men's Rugby.

Describe what you find most unique about GMC: GMC is my home away from home! I love this place. It is a very enriching community. What I find most unique about GMC are the people! The student body, staff, and faculty are all so different yet we have so much in common--the willingness to share and learn from each other's life experiences.

What piece of advice can you give to prospective international students?
Don't be afraid to be yourself or to be different. You are welcome at GMC just the way you are. That is what makes this community so unique and a fun place to live and learn.
