New Bands Every Week
The Gorge, in the lower level of Withey Hall, is the center for live music and other weekly entertainment, and the annual spring concert features a bigger band selected by student ballot. Past performers have included Keller Williams, Dropkick Murphys, Blackalicious, Presidents of the U.S.A., and RJD2. We're also an easy drive from three landmark music venues: Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vt., Revolution Hall in Troy, N.Y., and the Iron Horse in Northampton, Mass.
Thought-provoking Art
Two art galleries are located on campus. The Surdam Art Gallery hosts art exhibitions for senior art majors and current students, and the Feick Fine Arts Center attracts acclaimed artists from around the world. Past artist exhibitions at the Feick have included traditional American folk artist Warren Kimble, contemporary Korean artist Ik-Song Jin, and the late poet and painter Bruce Rosen.
Contemporary Theatre
The Theatre Program, directed by award-winning playwright John Nassivera, puts on at least one play per semester. Past productions have included Samuel Beckett's "EndGame," Caryl Churchill's "Cloud Nine," and A.R. Gurney's "The Dining Room." Students also have the opportunity to apply for summer internships at the Dorset (Vt.) Theatre Festival, founded by Prof. Nassivera.
