Meet Some Of Our Transfer Students

Major: Environmental Studies

Hometown: Canton, NY

Why I chose Green Mountain: Many factors went in to choosing Green Mountain College. First, I was struck by the atmosphere of friendliness and openness that encapsulates the Green Mountain community. Second, I was impressed by how much individualized attention was paid to me before I had even committed to coming. From setting up summer meetings with Department Chairs in my major to networking with the Career Services office on my campus tour, the people at Green Mountain made me feel like one of their own. Throughout the entire application process I was never treated like a number and that was very important to me.

What I like best about GMC: As an Environmental Studies student I like the fact that not only do they talk about changing the world but are taking significant steps on campus to be the example of that change. Gandhi said, "We must be the change we wish to see." At Green Mountain College there are examples of that change all around from the energy efficient lighting to the progressive step of powering a large part of campus with methane from local "cow power" farms. Green Mountain is a place where the change is not only talked about but also practiced.

Favorite part of the day: Dusk.

Best thing about Vermont: The limitless potential for excitement and personal growth.

Favorite GMC moment: Watching the women's soccer team play for and capture the conference title on our own home fields

Quote you try to live by: "We are far better than we know; if we can be made to just see this then perhaps, for the rest of our lives, we will be unable to settle for less." –-Kurt Hahn
